Welcome to our school
Letter from the Principal
Dear Parent/ Guardian
Thank you for visiting the Web-Site of St Brigids Primary and Nursery School
which includes a Key Stage 1 Autistic Class. At St Brigids we nurture and
encourage each pupils spiritual, emotional, academic and cultural well-being.
Our Mission Statement - Be the Best That You Can Be is central to all that we
offer our pupils.
We host a Key Stage 1 Autistic Class to support the educational and pastoral
needs of years one to four pupils. These pupils are placed in the class by WELB
Special Needs Department. A Key Stage 2 Learning Support Class will open
in September 2010. It is intended to cater for the needs of year 5, 6, and 7
pupils with special learning needs.
Our pupils experience quality learning and teaching in a caring, clean, safe and
welcoming environment. Success through achievement is encouraged for all pupils
in all aspects of their development.
We nurture the whole child through a broad range of experiences, academic,
pastoral and extra curricular, to prepare children for life in the 21st
Century. Great emphasis is placed on self esteem and confidence building
and pupils are given a range of awards including Pupil of the Week, Class of the
Week, Pupil and Class of the Term, Annual Awards and Individual Merit
Certificates. Pupils experience success through a Positive Behaviour Reward
Programme.
On the following pages you will read
about many aspects of school life at St.Brigids. Our Mission Statement and the
aims for our pupils epitomise what we believe is central to a rounded high
quality education. This is what we offer our pupils. It is perhaps best
summarised in our Mission Statement for pupils and staff which is - Be the Best
That You Can Be.
Mary McCallion, Principal: M.Sc., B.Ed., Dip. I.P.M.
